A few things that have inspired me lately:
⭕️ I recently started reading Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood which of course is as beautiful as everyone makes it out to be. I love the slow pace of life the characters seem to enjoy. Here’s a Spotify playlist of the song references he makes in his books: The Music of Haruki Murakami curated by Scott Meslow.
⭕️ The top 100 films of the 21st century. This is fantastic! Ever stuck for something to watch? Just make your way through this list.
⭕️ Oliver Sacks’ final interview which features his beautiful meditations on life and death. Of course this couples well with his superb TED Talk.
⭕️ Joni Mitchell’s The Hissing of Summer Lawns is easily one of my top 5 albums of all time and as such I was excited to discover that The Quietus revisited it for the album’s 40th anniversary last year. I adored this:
between the times I listen to it, it ceases to be what it is when I play it — as if it were one of those quantum particles whose state is defined only when observed. I can never remember exactly what it’s like, between those plays. I have a sense of it. I think I know it. But I hear it again and realise I don’t, until it’s in the room with me.️
