Every creative knows that feeling! And even more so now probably with such an oversaturated market. I often feel the same but I recently received a message from a girl in India that my essay on grief is helping her so much thru the loss of her dad... it was such a powerful reminder that our work really matters and reaches those who need it most. The ego wants praise, approvals etc - but the heart is content by reaching and connecting with a single soul. ♥️
This is so wonderful! It makes me so happy to hear of these connections that know no physical boundaries. It can be tough to ignore the ego can't it? But we really must so we can grow (and this is true for all of life! Not just creative output). Thank you for your comment 🙏
Right! I have to keep in mind that it's not always about how many people stream my music or how many followers I have. I'm very grateful for my little community here on Substack. It's much better than worrying about Twitter, YouTube, or any of those.
It's hard though, sometimes I've really got to keep reminding myself what's important.
Your title sums it up perfectly. Tough, frustrating, and wonderful.
And we wouldn't want to give up our creativity for anything, that's for sure! No matter how frustrating right? hah

The connections are worth more than all the rest.
even if it's just one every now and then!
